Why (Not) Me?
Searching for God When We Suffer
We warmly invite you to a free Zoom Town Hall on Sunday, May 18, at 4:00 PM EST. We will be blessed to hear from Hirshel Jaffe, co-author of the moving memoir Why Not Me: Searching for God When We Suffer.
Rabbi Jaffe, a five-time cancer survivor affectionately known as the "Running Rabbi," has lived a life of extraordinary courage, faith, and resilience. He faced a life-threatening cancer diagnosis, battled through a long and difficult recovery, and came through it with a more profound sense of spiritual purpose—one he generously shares in his powerful book.
In addition to his personal story of survival and faith, Hirshel Jaffe is known for his advocacy for justice and human rights. He visited the 52 hostages in Iran portrayed in the BBC Persian documentary, A Call from the Hostage Takers. Upon their return, he received the Award of Courage from President Reagan, who invited him to welcome the freed Americans in a White House welcome ceremony.
This will be more than a book talk—it will be a heartfelt conversation about where we find God in times of suffering, how faith sustains us in the darkest valleys, and the strength of the human spirit. Whether you've experienced personal hardship, are supporting others through theirs, or simply want to be inspired by a life of purpose, this is an event you won't want to miss.
